Burn Ban lifted in Town of Murphy

The burn ban within the Town of Murphy has been lifted effective 9:00 a.m. today, April 29, 2026.

This means open burning is now allowed within the town limits.

Cherokee County is also lifting its local burn ban. However, until the State of North Carolina fully lifts its statewide restrictions, burning in the county will only be allowed within 100 feet of a dwelling.Residents are encouraged to use caution and follow all safety guidelines when burning.
